Giving Tuesday 2015

By Joe Lins
December 1, 2015

Today is the 4th annual Giving Tuesday, a global day to give back and celebrate generosity. We are so proud to live and work in such a charitable community like North Orange County, California. Two weeks ago we held our annual Celebrate Giving with CENTURY 21 Discovery charity event. It’s our way to kick off this season of giving.

This year, our 21st year, we raised $19,000 to give to local charities in our community. Since its inception we have raised close to $300,000! As a result of the success of this event, we have formed the Discovery Charity Foundation.

Giving back is part of our culture at CENTURY 21 Discovery. In our 2014 blog post about Giving Tuesday we mentioned that many of our agents and staff serve on non-profit boards or volunteer with organizations in the community. They continue that practice and we fully encourage it. We believe it’s our duty as well as an honor to support the communities we serve. It warms our heart.

CENTURY 21 Discovery Visits the Comic Book Hideout

By Stephanie Goedl
May 1, 2015

This Saturday, May 2nd is Free Comic Book Day. I had to opportunity to talk with Glynnes Pruett of the Comic Book Hideout in Downtown Fullerton about her shop and the events for the day. The Hideout has been voted the Best Comic Book Store in Orange County by OC Weekly and the OC Register. After taking a tour of the shop I can see why it’s so popular. Check out our conversation below.

The Comic Book Hideout will be open on Free Comic Book Day from 9am-8pm. Stop on by this Saturday for your free comic book. This is another reason why we love this community.

CENTURY 21 Discovery at 2015 Donate Life Run/Walk

By Stephanie Goedl
April 25, 2015

A group of agents from our office participated in the 2015 Donate Life Run/Walk today at Cal State Fullerton. This annual event benefits the One Legacy Foundation which promotes organ donations.

We teamed up with the Leon Owens Foundation in honor of our friend Marv Owens. Marv received a kidney transplant in 2013. This event brings people together to honor or remember a donor or recipient while raising awareness of the need of organ donors.

Coming together for causes like this is one of the many reasons we love working in this community.

Community News – St. Jude Northwest Tower Completion

By Stephanie Goedl

November 7, 2014

I’m excited for my first post on the CENTURY 21 Discovery Blog to be about something that is near and dear to my heart. Our office is located in Fullerton which is in the hub of North Orange County, California. Across the street from our office is St. Jude Medical Center. This medical facility is a cornerstone of the community and provides high quality medical care as well as jobs to the area.

St. Jude is near and dear to my heart because it’s where I was born, I volunteered there in high school, I am currently a member of the St. Jude Hospital Guild and also serve on the Patient Advisory Council. As REALTORS® we are educated in the communities we serve by staying up to date on the neighborhood schools, parks, shopping and of course the local medical facilities.

A little over a year ago I had the opportunity to interview Lee Penrose, CEO of St. Jude Medical Center, as part of our CENTURY 21 Discovery Community Conversations video series. That video was about the construction that was going on of the Northwest Tower at the center.

Tomorrow, November 8th, the four-story tower will be open to the public for tours from 11-2. The new building will house state of the art surgical suites along with a new pharmacy, radiology, a “healing garden” and my favorite, a new cafeteria!

It’s been great to have a front row seat from our office watching the Northwest Tower being built. This facility will be an amazing addition to our community. I hope you can take advantage of this opportunity to take behind-the-scenes tour and interactive demonstrations before its open for business. Having this first class facility in our own backyard is benefit to all who live and work in North Orange County.
